Pear is a lovely fruit to add to perfumes for a gourmand note that needn't be cloying or overly sweet. Pears have a naturally perfumistic quality about them which makes them such a great fruit for our purposes. This formula is a modification of a known Givaudan formula that enhances and enriches the original as well as substituting where necessary to replace captive materials. It is astonishing diffusive, realistic, and succulent but does need to be rested for at least...

So I cannot find Cycloverdyl Propionate…what suitable replacement would you suggest?
Have you tried these suppliers to see if any can supply to you? Vigon are excellent for samples if you buy the odd thing in bulk. It is a fairly essential ingredient for this formula so I’d definitely try not to substitute.
Thanks! I’ll see…actually Lluc and Ventós are next to my place but only for big orders…(>3-5kg). Vigon sounds interesting, so you must place a proper order to add samples to it?
I have had hundreds (literally) of sample items from Vigon over the years and I typically buy things I use a lot from them by the KG (PEA, Geraniol, hedione, etc). They are a brilliant company and a good source of very unusual or difficult to find chemicals. When I fill my basked with 1kg lots, I always add at least 10 – 20 sample bottles. And the samples are typically 1/2 to 1 ounce in size – so they are pretty big when it comes to some chemicals.
sounds really good, I will take them into account!! Thank you Jamie.
If you want to give me your home address (you can email me [email protected] if you prefer), I’ll send you a small sample of the base. You can then decide from that whether you want to go to the effort of finding a supplier 🙂
I am contemplating selling a number of my bases on here (some with the formulas but some without also).
Is it possible to get a small sample of this base sent to germany too?
I would be really interested in it!
But if its not possible its fine for me too
Sure. Email me your address. I am just putting the samples into vials as we speak!
Okay thats cool, ive done that!
Hi Jamie,
I found out that I have phenyl ethyl isobutyrate instead of Phenoxyethyl isobutyrate, the properties are almost the same, do you think phenyl ethyl isobutyrate will work?
Just in case I’ve added the Phenoxyethyl to my basket at PA.
I’d play around with quantities but yes they are probably close enough to be interchangeable with minor changes.
Thanks, I can experiment with them because now I also have the Phenoxyethyl isobutyrate.
I’ve made this pear base today, it smells great already. It took me 4 months to collect all the ingredients but I think it’s worth it, thanks to Christine.
I’ve also ordered some chemicals from Perfumers World for the first time and I have to say that I am surprised by the quality they deliver, it’s very good so far!
Yes they are by far the best when it comes to service. You can buy any quantity from 1 gram up, and the prices arent double and triple for small amounts. All same price per unit no matter how much you order. Fedex only 20 usd and for 2 months fedex free if you order 100usd or more. Compared to shipping rates in Europe or California….no comment. The only thing is, I wouldnt get naturals from them, otherwise for aroma-chemicals, they are perfect.
I had my doubts with them, especially reading some of the comments from PK on Basenotes, but according to Jamie they’re fine so I gave it a shot. But I really needed some aroma chemicals I couldn’t find elsewhere.
Creating perfume also has a lot but for the moment I’ll wait until they have their shipping rates In order (hazardous stuff) before I order anything from them. They’re working on it according to the new owners.
Yeah honestly I’ve found them to be fine with chems but their packaging (bottles) leaves something to be desired. The only leaks I have experienced over the years have been from their products (up to 100g) – their powders and 1kg stuff is fine.
The packaging is indeed something that needs to be improved, I haven’t experienced any leaking but I find the aluminium bottles a pain and something you have to get used to when opening them.., their shipping costs is a bargain compared to shipping from the U.S.
