About the perfume: “Original Santal by Creed is an Amber fresh fragrance for women and men. The fragrance was launched in 2005 and its op notes are Sandalwood, Cinnamon, Juniper Berries and Coriander; middle notes are Lavender, Ginger, Rosemary and Petitgrain; and base notes are Vanilla and Tonka Bean.” In my experience, this perfume is a real compliment getter . . . in fact I have received more compliments wearing this than any other Creed apart from Aventus.
We are now presenting a replica formula of this fragrance to help educate new perfumers and for the curious in general. This one will really surprise you. Additionally, the original Creed fragrance is very much a clone of the older Mont Blanc Individuel so you can also get insight in to the formulation of that fragrance with this purchase.
NOTE: This purchase is for a formulation and not a physical bottle of fragrance.

Hi Jamie, this perfume looks very interesting. On the Creed site the olfactory pyramid shows other ingredients while in Fragrantica it shows exactly those you have listed … does this mean that in the meantime there has been a reformulation?
Honestly I would take anything Creed says with a grain of salt 🙂 Considering the name of the perfume and the quantity of actual sandalwood mysore in it, I’m surprised they don’t list fairy-dust or unicorn breath 🙂
😂 You’re right, they’re weird sometimes …
I just bought the formula and it looks very interesting to me. Two questions: Is Alpha Methyl Ionone very different from Alpha isomethyl Ionone? You write that there is a large amount of natural sandalwood but I don’t see it in the formula, there is only ingredient no. 26. Can I replace with real sandalwood or can I add it?
I was being facetious 🙂 There is no sandalwood in it. It’s as real as the ambergris they claim they put in all their perfumes (in other words: not real at all).
Ok! And what about alpha methyl ionone? Can I use alpha isomethyl ionone instead? Another question, what do you think of Javanol?? can I use it instead of ingredient 26?
Oh yes sorry you can. I also love Javanol. If you replace #26 with it it will be too dominant I think – you would get a similar effect with much less. You could do a combo to your liking. I like a 1:3 ratio of Javanol:Chem26.
Thanks Jamie, I’m playing around with your formulas a lot and they’re all really great and in my opinion MUCH better than the originals. Bravo! 😉
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback 🙂 I’m finally launching my own range of perfumes in a few months on https://frater.com – I hope you’ll get to try those out in time (actual perfumes though – not formulas).
Of course I will! I have been following you with great interest for years and in the field of perfumes I think you are the TOP 😉
Hah thanks Raffaello. That’s very high praise!
Is this formula too long? Do you have ingredients that are hard to get? I’m waiting for Jamie, thank you
